Shoemaking Retreat - Private workshop
Enjoy a private shoemaking workshop for max. 2 people in the heart of the Wicklow mountains. The ideal place to unplug, slow down, connect with nature and of course make shoes!
This is a combination of online and in person workshop. Making the pattern on the paper will be your homework. You will get access to the recorded lesson (in private FB group ) on how to make your pattern once you sign up. You will need about 2-3h to finish the pattern. I will review/consult the finished pattern with you no later than 10 days before your retreat in order to give you enough time to make any necessary changes.
You will choose the style of shoes you want to make and the dates are flexible (weekend or week days).
You will be glamping in a modern, cosy yurt (equipped with a stove).
Shoemaking retreat for 1 is €399 and for 2 people it's €599.

You will make one pair of leather, barefoot style shoes, style of your choice.
We will start with transferring the your paper pattern onto the leather, dying the leather, making holes for stitching and gluing all pieces together on the first day.
On the second day we will make the holes and stitch your shoes, glue the sole, shape your shoes and do any final adjustments. You will be able to pesonalise your shoes. Besides choosing your colour for leather and thread, you can also use stamps and markers to draw on your shoes.
Note: All materials and tools will be supplied, except for pattern drawing at home you will need 2x A4 paper (printer paper is good), 1x A3 paper, ruler, measuring tape, pencil, sharpener, rubber, red and green pencil/crayon, cork mat or similar, scissors. Chisel/stitch pitch/spacer will also be needed, as this is something you probably don't have at home, I will post it to you once you sign up and will ask you to please return to me at the workshop.
As there is no public transport going to Aughavannagh, co.Wicklow, pick up and drop off from/to Aughrim is possible at additional charge.
It is also possible to book additional nights in the yurt.
